Freedom of Choice: Cloud or On-Premise
Concurrent with the release of Product Update 8, Sage also announced the launch of Sage X3 Online. This Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) version of Sage X3 runs entirely in the cloud. Here’s a closer look at this new deployment option.
What is Sage X3 Online?
As a cloud solution, the new Sage X3 Online is aimed at businesses that value ease of deployment, lower up-front costs (servers, hardware, etc), and reduced need for in-house IT support and maintenance. Running on Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a public cloud, Sage X3 Online is a SaaS offering priced as a subscription that’s billed annually.
Even More Freedom of Choice
Sage X3 now provides an ERP platform that can be hosted by a third party, run in the cloud, or installed locally as an on-premises implementation.
Depending on your unique requirements, there are pros and cons to each option that are too extensive to discuss here. But the point is you have freedom of choice to implement Sage X3 in the way that fits best for your business.
In his keynote speech at Sage Summit 2015, Sage CEO Stephen Kelly says, “Sage loves on-premise. Sage loves hybrid. Sage loves the cloud. Sage will not force you to migrate.” He goes on to say that with these 3 choices (cloud, hosted, or on-premises), customers can “... control the pace of migration to the cloud, should you choose to.”
