Sage 500 ERP Supported SQL Versions

Many of you have probably seen a message while logging into Sage 500 ERP indicating that the SQL Server version is not supported:

Sage 500 ERP Message

I noticed a change that Sage implemented with the September 2012 update that reads:

Enhancements

*Enhancement: Removed SQL Server build number checks. Check on-line compatibility guide for current information.

Defect # 48384

Available: September 2012 Update

So once you apply the September 2012 Update, Sage 500 ERP will no longer check if you are on a supported version of SQL Server while logging in. This is good to know. Especially for users that apply SQL Server updates frequently. If issues begin to appear in Sage 500 ERP once a SQL update is applied, it may be SQL related. Nevertheless, RKL does not recommend patching SQL Server beyond the supported versions of Sage 500 ERP without thoroughly testing the application.
