Sage Announces Sale of Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix

Yes we have all heard the rumors for quite a while about Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix being sold but now it is official. It was fresh news to finally hear it officially this morning. I was just in Dallas for 2 days earlier this week at the Sage BPAC meeting and it was not mentioned during that meeting. I can only assume it was not mentioned due to legal reasons. Here is the statement from Dan Wilzoch, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix.

"We are pleased to share the news that Sage has entered into an agreement to sell our Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix solutions to Swiftpage*. Swiftpage provides a digital marketing platform for small business and, as you are likely aware, is an existing Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix partner—providing integrated E-marketing services for both products."

"While our ownership will change, our priorities will not. To ensure our mutual success, the management team for Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix, along with the strategic support of Swiftpage, will continue to focus on building products that drive the most value to customers and providing them with world-class service and support."

There were some other details in Dan's announcement but this is it from a high level. Sage Partners will be getting some further updates through a conference later today and Monday. One additional statement of interest from Dan's announcement that I will add to this post is the following. This is just to make you all aware that this still has some final hurdles to cross to complete, but if they are telling us this news it should be good to go.

"This transaction is still subject to certain regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. As Sage and Swiftpage work through the process, staying in touch with our partners is a top priority. While we may not reach each of you individually, we will do our best to keep you up to speed on our transition."

Yes this is a big change to Customers and Partners who have been committed to Sage ACT! and Sage SalesLogix. We will all have to wait and see how it truly impacts each of us. In my opinion this is a good thing in order to allow these two products to get the additional attention they need and deserve. Something that has been lacking in the past few years.
