While there hasn’t been a major release of Sage 500 ERP since Version 2013 from late last year, there were still some noteworthy enhancements that brought to us integrated cloud applications and a new FRx report conversion utility. During the year, we also got a major announcement from Sage regarding the future of Sage 500 ERP. Let’s take a closer look at the 2013 year in review.
During the annual Sage Summit customer and partner conference in August, Sage revealed a long term strategy of consolidating their ERP product portfolio which included a commitment to continue development and support of Sage 500 ERP through the end of 2017. The company added that they would reevaluate the product’s position in their portfolio at that time.
While many Sage 500 ERP customers (and the partner community that supports it) interpreted this as an “end of life” announcement or statement of product retirement, the intent was to provide assurance that Sage remains committed to the product line for at least another 5 years, possibly well beyond depending on their revaluation in 2017.

2013 also brought us Sage Inventory Advisor - an affordable cloud-based service that helps you reduce excess inventory and lower carrying costs while eliminating stock-outs. It works by connecting with your Sage 500 ERP inventory module, crunches the numbers using a sophisticated forecast engine, and continuously monitors inventory status to help you optimize stocking levels.
A new FRx Reporting Tree Conversion Utility was released in 2013 that converts FRx Reporting Trees into Sage Intelligence Reporting Trees. It’s a great complement to the Report Designer Add-in and together, they significantly speed up the conversion process.
Be sure to visit the Sage 500 ERP Intelligence Reporting online community where you’ll find a wealth of user guides, demo videos, and support resources to help you convert your old FRx reports (if you haven’t done so already) and get the most out of Sage Intelligence Reporting.
This year, we also saw the launch of Sage City - an online community that replaces all of the previously separate online product portals and destinations. If you have question about your Sage 500 ERP system, then head over to SageCity where you’ll connect with fellow customers, industry peers, and a whole community of support to help you get the most out of your software.
