I recently decided to create an @icloud.com email address. I have had an Apple ID for a long time, actually before I had an iPhone, but not an @icloud.com email account.
This is where my journey began. I started my research. Well, as I am sure you all may know, there is quite a bit of information about many things related to this topic, but for me anyway, none of which solved my issue.
I hopped on the Apple Support page and started a chat session. I was connected to Raquel from Apple Support. It took quite a bit of back and forth, some of which worked right away and some of which required alternative action steps. Here is what eventually did the trick.
One thing to keep in mind, I did not want to create a new Apple ID as there are plenty of reasons not to want that configuration. I just wanted to create an @icloud.com email address and add it to my Apple ID and then add it to my iPhone while maintaining my existing Microsoft Exchange accounts.
1. Go to Settings > yourname > iCloud. Enable Mail.
2. It will ask you to add and @icloud.com email address.
3. This will add this to your existing Apple ID account and it adds it as a separate Inbox in your iPhone Mail.
4. Send a test email from this Account to make sure it is working as you had hoped.
That’s it! I hope you found it helpful.
I was extremely impressed and appreciative with the chat session support. I ended up getting part of this on my own but the chat discussion guided me to what I was trying to accomplish.
