Simulated and/or Revised Cost is not using the correct Material Cost in Sage X3

Are you running Simulated or Revised Cost to update a Finished Good and you want to use Standard Cost for the Material Cost but Sage X3 is using Revised Cost instead of Standard Cost for Material? This blog will walk thru the steps of how to correct the Material Cost in Sage X3.

Ex. Here is the BOM for Finished Good FIN010 – it has one component BMS012

Here is the Standard Cost for the component BMS012 – you can see it is $35.97.

Here is the Revised Cost for Component BMS012 – it is $20.00

Now go to Costing > Cost Calculations > Revised Cost Calculation

Enter the parameters as shown below – note that Standard Cost is chosen for the Material Cost (the Standard Cost for the component was $35.97)

However, when the Cost is calculated the Revised Cost was used for the Component (Material) not the Standard Cost that you requested.

This is the reason why: on the Product-site record for the Component BMS012 the update method for Revised Cost is ‘Entered’ – it needs to be ‘Calculated’ so the Sage X3 can calculate the Revised Cost.

Change these as shown below and Save.

Go back to Costing > Cost Calculations > Revised Cost Calculation and run again using Standard Cost for Material Cost

Now Sage X3 is using the Standard Cost for the Material Cost.
