3 Steps to Being a Sage Intacct Implementation Rock Star

What do Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Bono, and Alice from Accounting all have in common? Answer: they are all rock stars!

While you may never have a world tour or play and sing in front of thousands of adoring fans, you, too, can be a rock star. Specifically, you can be a Sage Intacct Implementation Rock Star! It’s as easy as “A, B, C” (Do-Re-Mi … 1,2,3. You’re welcome for the song now stuck in your head.)

A – Act Like an Owner

When you agree to a project with RKL, you secure our 100% commitment to a successful project. But like any successful partnership, it takes 100% commitment from both sides. Implementation rock stars have that mindset and commit to doing all they can to ensure project goals are met. In short, they “act like an owner.” This looks like:

  • Assigning the right people to the project and creating the necessary space in their schedule. If possible, you should avoid other major projects during the implementation.
  • Doing your homework between project working sessions.
  • Scheduling internal meetings to make important decisions in between weekly meetings with RKL.
  • Making quick decisions; think days, not weeks (In other words, be thorough, but avoid analysis paralysis).
  • Never cutting corners on testing (“We had a really smooth go-live, and we barely even tested the system,” said no one ever).

B – Be an Eager Learner

RKL implementation rock stars adopt the posture of a learner. They see the ways that Sage Intacct can provide significant value to their organization, and they don’t want to miss out on any of it! They’re excited to learn new things and develop mastery wherever possible. They appreciate RKL’s help but want to learn to be self-sufficient as soon as possible. Become an eager listener by:

  • Early on, understanding the flexibility of Sage Intacct’s chart of accounts and dimensions
  • Taking advantage of the training and courses available in the Sage Learning Membership
  • Being fully present during RKL training
  • Developing expertise in report writing and importing data
  • Post-implementation, maintaining an always-learning mindset with our quarterly product updates webinars and new opportunities to improve automation

C – “See” and Embrace Change

A Sage Intacct implementation project represents change, which accounting folks sometimes resist. Implementation rock stars see the change and embrace it for all the good things it represents for the entire organization.

  • Keep the end in mind. There’s a brighter day coming at the end of the project. If there are bumps or minor setbacks along the way, maintain a positive attitude and keep moving forward.
  • Evaluate your processes. Be willing to modify “the way we’ve always done it” to take advantage of capabilities within Sage Intacct.
  • Decide early on which marketplace partners will be part of Phase 1. This will enable your team and the RKL team to properly focus on the most important priorities.
  • Communicate – like any good relationship, communication is essential. We give you lots of ways to communicate with us – project SmartSheets, email, phone, Zoom, etc. – and encourage you to use them all.
  • Have fun! Seriously. Life is too short to not enjoy the work you do and the people with whom you work.

When it comes to successful projects, RKL can’t live “with or without you.” Your dedication and commitment are key to the success of our partnership, and we're excited to continue working together to achieve rock star results and celebrate your victories. Get ready to shine like the implementation rock star you are!
